Which trees can be selected as habitat tree?

Since trees become not only more imposing but also more interesting to wildlife as they age, only trees of at least 50 years of age should be selected or converted as habitat trees.
If a tree already has existing hollows or rotting areas, these are features that should be preserved.
Professional arborists and experienced local tree experts can help. Knowledge of habitat trees is already well advanced in this area.

Is the safety of citizens at risk by leaving a habitat tree?

Leaving a tree a few meters high does not pose any risks in terms of breakage or the stability of a tree.
Like all old trees, habitat trees must be professionally inspected at least once a year to ensure they are safe to use.
If you have your trees professionally pruned and inspected, there are no dangers associated with the torso.

Does the respective tree have to be marked with a sign?

No, of course not.
The purpose of the sign is to inform the public why it was necessary to prune a tree and why it has a key function in the community.
Whether in cemeteries, parks or forest nurseries...the sign conveys information and creates public awareness with a simultaneous “green” positioning.

What are the goals of the project?

Protection of old trees that represent ecologically and particularly valuable habitats or can be converted into such.
Creation of acceptance and awareness among the population regarding the knowledge about habitat trees and their necessary establishment
Proactive contribution to the preservation and promotion of biodiversity on everyone's doorstep.
